Windows File Recovery Tool

Have you ever deleted accidentally an important file say an artwork, a document from your flash drive? Then you may give Windows File Recovery Tool a try.

Available in Microsoft Store for free and here's a quick overview on how to use it to recover those important files.

First download from Microsoft Store app

Open the app and a pop-up window alerting you to allow the cmd program to launch, simply click YES.

Now type in the following code and hit the enter key.

Winfr E: C: /extensive

Note that E: is the usb flash drive designation assigned when you plug in the device to your computer while the C: drive is your other drive to save the recovered files, if you have a different partition drive you may want to use, then you may use that instead.

You may follow sample codes below image if in case you would prefer to only recover specific file format like jpg, pdf, mp4 etc.

Just a sample code if I want to recover only mp4 files
Winfr F: D: /extensive /n *.mp4

So make sure to replace the sample designation above according to your computer.

Wait for the recovery process to complete and you may check the destination drive for the folder containing the recovered files.

It supports pdf, jpg, png, excel, mp4, txt, dwg, svg, docx files to be recovered.

Time to Recover
It works best if you just recently deleted a file and you go straight ahead and use the WFR app, as previous deleted files will turn out to be corrupted and could no longer be opened.

So best to act right away once you noticed you accidentally deleted an important file to avoid from getting overwritten with new data.

Make sure to double check the files you are deleting or if it can not be avoided just make sure to recover the files ASAP.
