One of the artists you could have encountered as I did and also got curious
about his brushes, and one of his videos where he explained that there's no
special secret to it 🤣.
As he mentioned less is more and to start with at least a few brushes around
four to five brushes that would work for your workflow.
Most of the time he says that he often uses the round brush with some tweaks
on the settings which he demonstrated how one could indeed have a quick paint
of hair in just 10 seconds.
So, I decided to replicate his brushes with Hipaint app, and indeed I recall
all the artists I watched in YouTube before that most of the time uses a round
brush in Photoshop to paint their artwork.
BRUSHES
a. Soft Round Brush
All I need is to have a round brush which I can manage to decrease the
brush size to make the sketch and use to color as well.
b. Fine Brush
Next, I have to have a fine brush or airbrush to apply some blush to a
portait
c. Rake Brush
Just to give some effect or added impact perhaps 🤣
d. Freckle Brush
Was thinking about those spots usually on the face of most young/teens but
could be also used to add texture perhaps if painting landscape 😆.
e. Half Tone
Some dots as background effects which is actually already one of the brushes
in Grids
I guess that completes my portrait brushes with a Sam Yang Brush vibes 😂 but
of course still adding some flat brush and those brush for loose hair strands.
SAMPLE ART
Here's a sample demo artwork done with the brushes I made which I myself
prefer to use as much as possible a single brush from start to finish 🤣.
Second demo of brush with speed timelapse in my channel (here), tried to copy one of his artworks using the custom brushes.
At the end of the day regardless of the brush to be used would still be at the
hands of the artist on how he/she manages to take advantage and be able to
create a masterpiece.
If you wish to support my work, then simply get these watercolor brushes with
some free brushes and sample hsd files for practice as well, Sam Yang Brush
inspired included with group brush name "portrait_brush"😁.
What are your thoughts? 😁
